MBA at IIMs: Life After MBA

Many students dream of becoming MBAs at IIMs. But few realize the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead after they graduate from one of the top MBA colleges in India. These are the important questions you need to answer. Let's get to the bottom of these important questions.

Extracts of the Interview:

MBA: Life after MBA

Many students don't know what they want to do after their MBA. Many students have an idea of what they want after graduation from a B-school. They might want a great career, a high salary, and the chance to work outside of India. These are the expectations students should have when they enroll in a B-school. These expectations are met to a certain extent by the excellent placements offered by top MBA colleges in India.

There are some students who, after five to six years of corporate life, have clarity about their career and their future plans. They have paid their dues, accumulated some funds, and can now start to think about starting their own ventures. This is when they begin to think about becoming entrepreneurs.

After completing five to six years of corporate life, another group feels that they wish to become academics. They then return to their mentors to ask for advice on which universities they should join to finish their doctoral studies.

The culture at the respective B-schools can have a significant impact on what management graduates do after they complete their MBA. IIM Calcutta encourages students to try different things. VinayakLohani, an IIM Calcutta alumnus currently runs an orphanage near the institute. Mali MastanBabu was another IIM Calcutta alumnus who is a well-known mountaineer and holds the distinction of having climbed all seven highest peaks in the globe. He was a member of several teams that summited Mt Kilimanjaro. Deepak Dhamija, the former president of the student council at IIM Calcutta is another example. He is currently the director of a renowned theatre group in Delhi.

A B-school does not mean that a person's career options are restricted to the corporate world. IIM Calcutta, a B-school, also produces students who are interested in less well-known career options and excel at them. Your MBA will equip you with the skills and tools you need to excel in any career you choose.
