7 KEY MISTAKES TO AVOID DURING CAT PREPARATION

I am often asked about CAT preparation tips and what key mistakes you should avoid. This article will cover the top 7 mistakes you should avoid in your CAT preparation process.

1.It's too late to start:

This is a simple one. This is a common mistake. You should aim to spend at least 3-4 months on testing (ideally, this should occur after you have completed your portion. However, there are other options where you can take both the portion and test together.

2.IMBALANCED PREPARATION

It is important to balance your CAT preparation and distribute your study time between all sections. Avoid these common mistakes:

  1. Do your DI-LR preparation
  2. Exercising Quantitative Aptitude
  3. It is important to not balance your preparation between sections every week. Students often end their weeks with one section unfinished. Balance your weeks between verbal, QA, and DI/LR. You don't have to balance your CAT preparation every day. It is sufficient to balance every week.

3.PLAYING FOR SPEED STRONGAWAY

Before you can improve your speed, learn to correctly answer questions first. Learning to walk is always better than learning to run. Speed would be an automatic outcome once you feel confident answering all questions correctly.

4.DON'T DELAY TESTING TOO LONG

To achieve peak performance in CAT, you will need to spend at least 3-4 months testing. You will not be able to pass your CAT exam if you try to compress your test time.

5.NON-ENOUGH SECTION TEST:

Two levels of testing must be done. Although full-length mock tests are very important, sectional tests are just as important. This is something you need to avoid.

6.NON-ANALYSIS TESTS ENOUGH

It is important to take tests. Analyzing the test results is an important part of your CAT preparation. Most students don't spend enough time after taking the test to analyze their results. Two important points should be included in your CAT Test Analysis.

  • Ask wise questions: Learn the details of each question. To find the right answer, extract the learning process.
  • Analyse behavior and decision making analyze carefully your time investment decisions for each question. Examine the relationship between your time and your attempts during each section. Evaluate your question skipping choices, and analyze the source.

7.DISCIPLINE YOURSELF:

Your CAT Preparation journey is only as good as your faith. Many times, I have seen very talented students lose the race because they lost faith in their abilities. Keep believing in yourself and you will win the most difficult battles against all odds. You can only win the biggest battles in life by having yourself on your side. Online CAT coaching

Is it difficult to pass the CAT exam? Students and aspirants often ask this question to management studies.

The Common Admission Test, also known as CAT, is undoubtedly India's most competitive exam. It is an entrance exam to IIM's management degree program. Nearly 2 to 3 Lac candidates apply each year for the exam to fill a few seats. There are more than 2.3 million applicants for the CAT exam 2021. There are only a few seats available.

The CAT exam is not difficult, but you might be wondering if it is. The high competition for admission to IIM colleges in India makes it difficult to pass the exam. Many aspirants think it is impossible to pass the exam because they are too busy.

Many people who have taken the exam several times and those who have passed it agree that scoring high marks in CAT depends on your patience and ability to think strategically. Common Aptitude Test is not a syllabus-based test. It is a test of aptitude that tests candidates on their ability to manage time, problem-solving, and comprehension. It is the people who know how to use shortcuts and intelligent strategies and apply concepts smartly to win.

Level of difficulty in CAT

All aspirants need to put in the hard work and study, but the methods and strategies used to solve the questions are equally important. If you want to pass the CAT exam, these are the things that will matter.

Many candidates who are appearing for the CAT exam include many from engineering colleges. They were once part of the IIT JEE exams. Because it covers subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Maths, IIT JEE has been deemed the most challenging exam. The exam isn't too difficult for people who enjoy these subjects.

The same applies to CAT. You can prepare for it if you have strong analytical skills, logical skills, and comprehension skills.

It is important to remember that you must trust yourself and plan strategically to pass the exam. Do not take any breaks during your CAT Online Preparation. Keep your eyes on the exam and work towards your daily goals.

Let's look at an example to illustrate this. You might have seen or participated in the 100-meter race at school. Did it prove difficult to win? Everyone will have a different answer. Some people might answer YES, because they aren't used to running or because they are fat. Some will say NO, while others might answer YES because they enjoy running and playing sports.

Critical Aspects of the CAT Exam

Here are some critical points about CAT that make it seem not easy:

  • Rate Questions

Many people have said that the time allotted for the CAT exam isn't enough to answer all the questions. The truth is that the CAT exam is not meant to answer all questions. It is designed to assess aptitude, thinking, and the ability to identify strategic questions, avoid mistakes, maximize accuracy, and minimize negative markings.

  • Speed

You will experience a lack of time during the exam, so you should find questions you can quickly answer to save time and focus on more complex questions. It would be best to improve your comprehension and read speed, particularly for the Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability sections.

  • Accuracy Rate

Candidates must have high accuracy rates because the exam is subject to negative marking. It would be a shame to attempt questions they don't know the answers to. It is essential to find questions that are at least 85% accurate.

End of the story

High competition makes the CAT exam extremely difficult and challenging to pass. If you are determined to study management at an IIM college, you need to put in your effort. Enroll in the best online CAT coaching and follow an intelligent strategy.

How to develop a reading habit to boost your CAT score?

Reading a book is similar to falling in love. You can't force it. If you try, your relationship will soon crack, and you will end up with someone else. The past, beliefs, and prejudices you have held onto can interfere with your ability to start over. This is when it becomes challenging to find a way to forgive.

Reading must happen to you at some time in your life, just like true love. There is no better time to prepare for the CAT and best online CAT coaching than now.

Our relationship with the books that we read is an essential factor. I don't believe anyone who says they don't 'like' reading. They are saying that they tried to read things that did not interest them.

This is like saying, "I don't want to be loved!" It simply means that we haven't yet found the right person.

Each person has their preferences, likes, and dislikes. These factors influence the books we choose to read. Books we read reflect our curiosity.

Curiosity is often inversely proportional to narcissism.

Obsession with oneself is one of the biggest obstacles to reading. This leads to a narrow view of the world that doesn't transcend one's immediate concerns.

Ask yourself this question: What subjects, activities, and pursuits interest you, even if they don't provide any material benefit?

These answers may be found within you. You could find it in any field: Economics, management, law or physics.

List everything you are interested in on a piece of paper. You'll be able to see what type of person you are - self-centred or curious.

The best B school is looking for curious people, as they are more likely to learn quickly and be better managers in the future.

The primary purpose of the selection process - from the CAT to WAT to the PI – is to discover how interested you are in the world around you.

After creating your list (which should contain at least five topics), go to your local bookshop and peruse the titles related to those topics. You might even find a few books you fall in love with.

You will be more likely to continue reading books that interest you.

Do not be content with a relationship; work to improve it!

After you've started to read on a topic that interests you, it is time to explore the related topics.

Many of us are passionate about sports. It is possible to start by reading the daily newspaper sports column, then move on to the web columns, then to the autobiographies and management of sportspeople, and so forth. Some people may be more interested in the medical side of sports (such as physiotherapy or sports medicine). Some might venture into the philosophical aspect of sports, which is a universal exploration of the importance of sports in our lives. Others may become more interested in combat and war - an unlikely turn that your sports reading may take. This will open up another avenue for us to read. This could open up new avenues for us to read about history, politics, and so forth.

The majority of us also enjoy films. The film reviews are just one example of a reading journey. You might also be interested in biographies, books about film-making, music, and even scripts. Some of these readings may inspire us to write about our favourite movie characters.

Can you see the significance of this? A book can be likened to a torch that can ignite another flame and bring joy into our lives. But only if we let it.

As with any relationship with reading, it is possible to make small changes to our daily lives to have a good relationship with them. Spend half an hour reading a newspaper to start your day. When you travel, keep a book handy - digital or printed. Turn off your phone and get lost in a book. Do not be afraid to miss the bus stop or train station. There is no better way to get lost than in a book.

The ability to get lost in a book is rare freedom that allows one to live in their happiness. This freedom is the best place to learn.

You can keep a book at your bedside and look in it like a mirror at the end. This will allow you to reflect on the day and see what you learned. These books are not your typical self-help books found in corporate libraries and airport bookshops. They are works of genius, which can reassure you about the future that holds endless possibilities by their sheer brilliance and reassurance. Bertrand Russell's books will convince you otherwise.

In your reading, keep a balance between fiction and nonfiction.

As most people have already discovered, the CAT RC passages are mostly nonfiction. Sometimes we may read a story or a poem once in a while. Nonfiction is more challenging to understand. Nonfiction is more complex than fiction. This is unless readers are very familiar with the subject or have low levels of difficulty. Because of the vivid descriptions in most stories, it is easy to follow along with the text. Nonfiction, however, doesn't have to entertain us. This is why it can be more challenging to understand and requires a lot of effort from us.

Fiction, however, enriches us with idiomatic vocabulary, which is also tested in many of the management entrance exams.

My experience shows that most students stick with fiction or nonfiction. Both are important from the standpoint of the exam, so we need to practice reading both.

These are my recommendations.

Recommending books to someone is similar to inviting someone to a blind date. It's a risk, and if it fails, it is my rap!

If true love is what lasts, these are some things I've read over the years and still surprise me with discoveries.
